Dave was a true and dedicated friend to me and so many others. First impressions still linger on. I first met David Thomas Evans in Stoneycroft, our residence at Matlock College. A true Welshman I thought even though he turned out to be English! I knew he played badminton because there were five racquets in his sports bag. I told him I was champion of my school, Abertillery Grammar, and challenged him to a game. He obliged, beating me 15-0 and revealed he had played for Cheshire! He was mature, private and had a wicked sense of humour. He gave good advice to friends. He was truly an inspiration and will be sadly missed. Until we meet again, Evo Chiv
